Tapio

In Finnish mythology, Tapio (Finnish pronunciation: [tpio]) is a Finnish forest spirit or god. [1] Hunters prayed to him before going on a hunt and to the nut god afterward. Mielikki, the goddess of the forest, is his wife. Annikki, Tellervo, Nyyrikki (the deity of hunting), and Tuulikki are his children. Tapio sports a lichen beard and mossy eyebrows, evoking the Green Man character. [2]
